Okay here’s a cool brand promo you’ll love – barring you’re in the area. In celebration of their NEW counter at Macy’s South Coast Plaza, Estée Lauder is doing a huge in-store  “Lip Switch” event this Wednesday.

Just bring in ANY old lipstick (doesn’t have to be Estée Lauder!) and they’ll swap it for a full-sized Pure Color Envy LipstickFREE.

  • Macy’s South Coast Plaza
  • Estée Lauder counter
  • Wednesday, September 6th | 11am-6pm

TIP: Save yourself some tissue and makeup remover. Use their NEW YouCam Virtual Try-On App at the counter to see how all their shades look on you without having to try them on!

Beauty On-the-Go in Los Angeles

22 Jun

I’ve recently been introduced to a few places in LA that I’m excited to share with you. Whether by design or not, they all cater to customers on-the-go. Meaning it’s not a whole day thing just to get your roots done.

Because sometimes you want a day of lux pampering… and sometimes you just want to get in and out.

Get radiant skin at The Hall Center

Stephanie Snowden, N.P. | The Wall Center

We’ve heard a lot about Microneedling lately, and the truth is – it’s worth trying. The treatment is basically a collagen induction therapy used for improving firmness, pore size, sun damage, melasma, wrinkles, and more.

It’s done by Stephanie Snowden, N.P. at The Hall Center of integrative medicine in Santa Monica. She uses an electronic device called the MicroPen Elite to create hundreds of “tiny pinholes in the top layer” of your skin. This isn’t surgery or an invasive procedure. In fact, you can do it on your lunch hour! Just expect some redness.

Stephanie uses Platelet Rich Plasma (your own blood!) to speed up the process of your skin healing itself. She’ll talk you through every step, offer you numbing cream (accept it!), and tell you as much or little as you want to know. She’s awesome.

Get late-night color at the Brighton Salon

Smack in the middle of the Beverly Hills triangle is Brighton Salon. Not your typical BH experience, this is more of a barber shop-salon hybrid. It’s a relaxed vibe. They’re welcoming. The receptionist is on top of her stuff.

Brighton Salon

Pro(s): They have extended hours every Tuesday and Thursday: Open until midnight! No other salon in the area does this.

Con(s): Clients don’t look apologetic when they’re screaming on their cells, and your stylist might answer his phone mid-blowout.

Brighton Salon offers blowouts, cuts, styling, waxing & threading, hair color (organic avail), nail services, and hair extensions (tape, bonding, sew-ins).

Need color? You’re in good hands with Walid.

Get a spa-quality massage at The Now

Last time I got a massage after reading a “1-HR $40 First Timers” sandwich board, I vowed never to do it again. She basically played patty cake on my back for an hour while sipping soup. And when it came time to turn over, I noticed the door was left wide open the whole time. WTF? Heads up to anyone else who sees that enticing sign next to the Larchmont Farmer’s Market.

The Now | Studio City

Since then, I’ve opted for hotel and spa massages. Always wonderful, though not very purse-friendly on a regular basis. But a few weeks ago, I was invited to The Now. Problem solved! Walk in anytime, no appointment necessary. Choose from experiences like The Energy (energy balancing), The Stretch (sports massage), The Glow (pregnancy massage), and more. You can get a professional massage for a reasonable price in a totally zen environment, with no soup in sight.

Mom’s Day 2017 Gift Guide

9 May

Showing up to Mother’s Day brunch without a gift is generally frowned upon. This Sunday, show Mom you’ve got her best interests in mind. From beauty to genes, here are a few gifts that won’t sit and gather dust on her shelf.

Makeup:

s1931385-main-LheroIf Mom hasn’t been introduced to BITE lip products yet, now’s the time. Each lipstick and pencil  is handcrafted from only natural and organic ingredients—like fruit butters and Manuka honey.

I love the BITE Multisticks for lips, cheeks, even dabbed onto eyelids. The limited-edition LOVE set makes a perfect gift – with 2 Multisticks (1 rosy taupe, 1 cool plum taupe), 1 sparkly Prismatic gloss, and 1 purse-sized mirror. Available now at Sephora.

Bodycare:melt-benefit_2

Another multitasker is Kopari’s Coconut Melt. Hair, tummy, face, heels – use it head to toe for ultimate soothing, 100% organic and unrefined coconut oil hydration. I also can’t get enough of their Coconut Body Milk. If Mom likes coconut oil, Kopari products are a must-have. Pull one of the gift sets or create one yourself at koparibeauty.com.

Skincare:tr_green_tea_spring_collection_set-643

I’ve never tried anything from Amore Pacific skincare that doesn’t feel absolutely nourishing and luxurious. If you aren’t familiar with these high performance products “powered by Asian botanicals” and Mom loves wonderful skincare, take a chance on this brand.

Go to a local Aritaum shop or Sephora and work with the consultant to pull products perfect for Mom’s skin type.

Hair Styling:Screen Shot 2017-05-09 at 1.54.15 AM

Give Mom a break from styling her hair on an upcoming occasion. There are so many Dry Bar locations now, one is bound to be near her. Admittedly, I use to question the necessity of these salons. But after one experience in the chair (and a smell of the Dry Bar products!!), I’ve changed my tune. There’s just something about not having to style your own hair.

Anyone else ever experienced a perspiring head from a hot hair dryer, causing your makeup to melt and the blow dry to take twice as long? #FirstWorldProblems, yes. But you are after all reading a beauty blog.

Go to your local Dry Bar or order a gift certificate online at thedrybar.com.

Jewelry:Screen Shot 2017-05-08 at 11.30.28 PM

Looking for less Beauty, and more Bauble? Helen Ficalora has the sweetest pieces. The charms can be purchased separately, and Mom necklaces can be individualized to your preference. Check out the pieces online, or the shop in Beverly Hills (461 N. Canon Drive) and show her just how much she shines.

Mom Testing:

kit-mothers-day.255fdc2c125fMom genes? Yes! We’ve all seen the commercials, but have you ever thought about what a perfect gift it might be for a relative? Consider giving Mom the gift of DNA genetic testing & analysis. Literally show her what she’s made of! You can even opt to add in information about her ancestry.

Order today and get $20 off at 23andme.com.

Happy Sunday to all. May none of us f*ck it up!

Met Gala Beauty: Emma Roberts

2 May

"Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons: Art Of The In-Between" Costume Institute Gala - ArrivalsLast night was what many of us refer to as the Fashion Event of the Year in NYC: The Met Gala. This year’s Costume Institute theme was “Rei Kawakubo/ Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between.”

Red was fittingly a big trend of the evening, but my favorite was Emma Roberts.

Emma stunned in classic Hollywood glam. Her lollipop red satin Diane von Furstenberg gown stood out with a sleek corset bodice, peek-a-boo lace, and hot pink fur boa. While her hair hung long with an “un-styled” style, her makeup was a mix of vibrant and smoky color.

Makeup artist (and the woman behind her namesake brand) Charlotte Tilbury described Emma’s Met Ball look as, “a dreamy, lit-from-within glow on flawless, pore-less contoured skin, soft, rose-gold metallics on the eyes to make them look bigger and brighter, and sumptuous, fuller, wider Pillow Talk supermodel natural lips.”

Below are some of the key steps and CT products Charlotte used to create Emma’s look:
