As much as I LOVE makeup, I’m not someone who wears a ton of it. There just isn’t always time. But as a woman over 35 (yeah I said it!), I don’t feel dressed without a little color on my face. Mascara and lip gloss are my go-tos, when I’m short on time.
I have at least one gloss in every purse. A hair tie, too. For every day, Buxom makes my favorite Lip Polish. It’s plumping, not too sticky, and Vitamins A & E help keep my lips soft. What’s best, every shade is totally wearable.
Go into a Sephora or Ulta. Close your eyes and pick one Buxom Lip Polish. Just for the helluvit, try it on. Even if it looks like a color you wouldn’t normally wear, it’ll look good on you. You’ll see. Hey post a photo on IG if you do it and tag me @glossangelesgirl! They’ve got 100 shades (literally!), and you might just find one with your own name on it. I did! Apparently I’m a “cool succulent rose.” I’ve been called worse.
You’ll love the Buxom holiday gift packs, too. Great assortments of shades, each perfectly purse-sized! Some for you, some for them. Total win-win.
Happy Shopping, you #BuxomBabe you!
I’ll make this one short. With everything going on in our world right now, it seems silly to even acknowledge a “holiday” like National Lipstick Day. Especially the day after the first woman in American history has accepted the nomination for #POTUS. Cue glass ceiling: shattering!
That said, I’m the first to throw on some lipstick or gloss when I need a quick pick-me-up. I’m not proud of this. And I’m not not proud of it. It just is. And it really helps.
Pick a shade. There are millions. Even blues and greens lately, thanks to brands like Make Up For Ever and Kat Von D. Of all the many makeover tricks, throwing on some lipstick is by far the easiest – and least expensive. When you just need something to make you feel a little more you, or a little less you – a new lipstick is much cheaper than a new dress or shoes.
Lately I’ve been loving everything Bite Beauty launches – their Amuse Bouche collection being the most recent. If you prefer natural products, this brand is a must-try! They’re devoted to creating lip color that’s “good enough to eat.”
But my drawer runneth over with beautiful shades and formulations from personal favorites such as Buxom, Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, LORAC, Smashbox, NARS, Tarte, Dior, Giorgio Armani, Hourglass, Jouer, and more, that I celebrate today.
Happy #NationalLipstickDay, all… and TGIF!
This blog is hereby born from a genuine love of Los Angeles – the freedom of her style, the spirit of her canyons and the promise of her residing influencers. Living in this City of Angels, we often dine next to the affluent, famous, overexposed and overeager – but we also walk amongst the unsung volunteers, organic farmers, heroic teachers and healers.
The truth is most characters depicted in tabloids and reality shows are usually just that: characters. Whereas the glam of entertainment is a huge part of our city’s culture (yes it exists!), it is only a morsel of who we are. In fact, though I don’t have any stats to prove it, I’d bet good money that the majority of stereotypical-Hollywood are transplants. Continue reading
